Salary: $180,000 to $195,000

Exempt/Non-Exempt: Exempt

Position Summary:

Reporting to the Deputy Chief Development Officer (DCDO), the Vice President of Development and Advancement Services (VPDAS) will be a Development Department leader responsible for overseeing the creation of Advancement Services functions and Business Process Improvement functions within the Development Department focused on both supporting and ultimately directly participating in across the board fundraising efforts by the Development Department of the Jewish Federation of Greater Los Angeles. The initial focus will primarily be on the creation and subsequent of a stewardship engine servicing the entire Development function of the Federation, while concurrently documenting and advising on existing and future business process functions of the broader department with a focus on identifying redundant exigent processes and generating efficiencies as a result. Further, as a Vice President of Development, this position will be personally responsible for the identification, cultivation, solicitation and individualized stewardship of a portfolio of donors to the Jewish Federation of Greater Los Angeles.

Duties:

  • Working in partnership with the Chief Development Officer (CDO) and DCDO, the VPDAS will serve as team lead in the creation and subsequent execution of a Development Stewardship and Collateral Content engine servicing the entire Jewish Federation of Greater Los Angeles inclusive of relevant support of volunteer fundraising efforts.
  • Once the Stewardship efforts are successfully underway, the VPDAS will continue to update, revise and process improve all stewardship efforts as programmatic advances warrant in perpetuity
  • Working in partnership with the CDO and DCDO, the VPDAS will undertake the investigation and documentation of extensive business process and workflow mapping of all current function of the broader Development function of JFEDLA. Inclusive to this work will be recommendations of process improvement to yield efficiency gains to the broader Development department of the Federation.
  • The VPDAS will carry a portfolio of appropriately matched donors/prospects, including prospects to be re-engaged to support the revenue generation efforts of the Development Department of the Jewish Federation of Greater Los Angeles.
  • The VPDAS will solicit and co-solicit upgrades to the individuals comprising their portfolio while also cultivating new major donor prospects on an annual basis.
  • Based on established guidelines, utilize fundraising software to document and maintain files of donor/prospects
  • Assist in the formulation of cultivation plans and solicitation strategies of major gifts donors/prospects.
  • Assure adherence to Campaign timetable and schedules.
  • Attend events and committee meetings as required.
  • Prepare necessary reports.
  • The ability to identify & engage new donors and maximize the contributions of existing donors will be important to the success of this position.

Additional Duties:

Be available to supervisors for additional assignments as timing and resources merit.

Education & Experience Required For Position:

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Demonstratable experience in Donor Stewardship and Advancement Marketing content creation and advancement function operational management a must.
  • Experience in business process mapping and workflow improvement.
  • 7+ years fundraising experience from individuals, foundations and business leaders through diverse events and membership related activities; personal success negotiating major gifts above $25,000 from diverse sources.
  • Understanding of current and prospective funding communities and influencers, with ability to develop continually refreshed strategies that engage donors of various types.
  • Experience working with leaders of industry.
  • Adept at collaborating with various subject matter and program experts to develop solicitation approaches; ability to triangulate between JFGLA programs and donors.
  • Appreciation of the Jewish faith and community, its traditions, history, institutions and practices.
  • Understanding of Jewish communal organizations and philanthropy in United States and Israel.
  • Experience in leveraging fundraising databases and support systems for donor segmentation, research and volunteer management.
  • Understanding of how fundraising systems can be used to track and drive fundraising processes and assure quality stewardship programs.
  • Track record as exceptional written and verbal communicator.
  • Successful candidates will be mission-driven, goal oriented, able to self-manage and to travel to frequent donor meetings outside the office.
  • Excellent strategist with ability to formulate plan from disparate information.

  • A hybrid work model will be implemented for certain positions. This position must report to work-site on non-remote workdays, as determined by the Federation.
