Federation Impact Update — October 2023

AIDING THE VICTIMS OF TERROR

Through our work with the Victims of Terror Fund and The Jewish Agency for Israel, Israeli families and individuals whose loved ones have been killed or taken hostage are receiving emergency cash assistance and specialized social services to support them through these devastating days. To date, 1,200 grants have been transferred and an additional 1,800 are in–process. Victims will receive the funding and support they need to help cope with this unimaginable loss.

DELIVERING URGENT MEDICAL SUPPLIES

Our fundraising efforts directly provide urgently needed support to heroic first responders in Israel. Critical medical supplies, healthcare services, and trauma relief are reaching impacted communities hourly so that frontline hospitals and medical aid organizations can continue to do their lifesaving work. Our partners at Magen David Adom and United Hatzalah have treated more than 3,000 soldiers, adults, and children. They have also dispatched 1,000 medic bags and 22 tons of medical supplies and humanitarian aid.

RELOCATING FAMILIES IMPACTED BY THE WAR

Individuals and families living in the direct line of fire are being safely evacuated from the war zone and given temporary housing, increased security, culturally sensitive social services support, and childcare. Our partners at The Jewish Agency for Israel have assisted in the evacuation of 1,475 Olim (immigrants on Aliyah to Israel) from absorption centers. Through our partners at Leket, 2,600 food cards have been distributed to evacuees, 90,000 hot meals have been served, and 5,000 dry food packages have been distributed. Our partners at the American Joint Jewish Distribution Committee are assisting in the establishment of temporary schools and kindergartens at Dead Sea hotels for the 2,000 children evacuated from the war region.
