WE SHOWED THE WORLD THAT OUR CITY STANDS WITH ISRAEL
Together with The Jewish Federations of North America, we coauthored and advocated for a Los Angeles City Council resolution honoring Israel’s 75th year of independence. The resolution was a triumph for our Federation, whose impactful leadership has strengthened the standing of the Jewish community with elected officials and public servants throughout Los Angeles. It is vital that we show Jews around the world that our city stands shoulder-to-shoulder with Israel.
WE OPENED COMMUNITY MEMBERS’ EYES TO ISRAEL ON OUR COMMUNITY MISSION
Our Federation recently provided an exclusive and unique opportunity for 65 community members to participate in our Community Mission. Nearly half of the people on the trip had never visited Israel before. It was a deeply meaningful experience that reinforced our community’s commitment to our Jewish homeland.
During the eight-day Mission, participants received a first-hand view of the impact our Federation makes enriching lives in Israel. We commemorated Yom HaShoah (Holocaust Remembrance Day) and Yom HaZikaron (the national remembrance day for Israeli military personnel and those lost to terror). We met with political and civic leaders. The experiences shared during those eight days were critical to understanding Israel and the work our Federation does on its behalf.
WE CELEBRATED ISRAEL’S DYNAMIC CULTURE
Our Federation was proud to convene Jewish L.A. to support Israel and to showcase the beauty, history, art, and culture of our homeland. We sponsored the Israel at 75 celebration, alongside the Israel Consulate and Israeli American Counsel. What made this sold-out event at the Saban Theatre so spectacular was the opportunity to honor Israel’s deep cultural and historical elements with music and performance. Hundreds gathered together to celebrate. Everybody left with a deeper appreciation of the wonderful traditions that make our homeland so special.
