Turkey. Stuffing. Pumpkin pie. Many of us are fortunate enough to enjoy an abundance of these food items on Thanksgiving — and they don’t even make up half of the menu. For too many Jews in L.A., Thanksgiving looks a lot different. It’s just another day without a decent dinner. Lunch is another meal that so many go without — Let’s NOT Do Lunch and help our Federation do something about it.
With the $18 you might spend on lunch for yourself or to share with a friend, you can feed an entire Jewish family. Let’s NOT do lunch and feed 1,000 Jewish families by Thanksgiving instead!
Throughout the year, our Federation helps the community in hundreds of ways, and we couldn’t do it without your support. Working with our partners, we make sure that hot Kosher meals are delivered to homebound elderly and that food pantries serving Jewish families have groceries on their shelves.
By not doing lunch and giving that $18 to The Jewish Federation’s 2015 Annual Campaign instead, you can make sure a mother doesn’t have to skip lunch so her kids can have dinner, that an elderly Holocaust survivor has enough food to make it through the month, that children go to bed without hunger pangs.
Thanks in advance for not doing lunch and for helping us meet our goal to feed 1,000 Jewish families by the time we gather with our families around the Thanksgiving table.
