Why did you decide to co-chair Israel Unparalleled?
I have been really lucky and fortunate enough to be able to go to Israel at least once a year on pro-Israel advocacy issues. Each time I travel there, I learn more, and get a bit more into the culture, the food, the wineries. I thought to myself,” Wouldn’t it be great to focus a whole trip to Israel around the parts you usually don’t see?” I presented this concept to the Federation and it has been very exciting working towards it.
What are some of the exciting things you are looking forward to on the trip?
So much! I don’t know where to begin — the restaurants I’ve tried were all so wonderful, it was hard to choose which ones we should go to. I love tasting Israeli wine and can’t wait to meet a cheesemaker and their goats in June. I think what will be extremely special will be our visits to private homes and [art and architecture] collections as well as visiting an artist or two. On top of that, we will have the opportunity to meet some of the most creative forces in Israel — the chefs, artists, and collectors. I think this trip will highlight exciting and interesting parts of Israeli society that you may not typically see when visiting from LA.
Why should others join you and your co-chairs on the trip?
We are going to have so much fun and see parts of Israel that most people haven’t explored before! The cultural experiences will be incredible. We hope you’ll enjoy the wine with us!
What is special about this trip to Israel?
Being exposed to never before seen aspects of Israel. There will be tons of surprises, so you’ll definitely want to join us to find out!
Can you share with us a personal experience visiting Israel?
I met Ezra Kedem, the Chef of Arcadia restaurant in Jerusalem, and visited his private dining room in the Jerusalem Hills. We will enjoy a special dinner with him in his all-glass dining room — and perhaps even help him pick the herbs in preparation! I can’t wait to share it with you!
