As we prepare for Shabbat after the tragic violence, senseless loss of life, and assault on our democracy on the steps of our nation’s Capitol Building, we reflect on a prayer we recite during Shabbat services:
“Our G-d and G-d of our ancestors: We ask your blessings for our country — for its government, for its leaders and advisors, and for all who exercise just and rightful authority. Teach them insights from Your Torah that they administer all affairs of state fairly, that peace and security, happiness and prosperity, justice and freedom may forever abide in our midst.”
This Shabbat, we reaffirm our commitment to work to heal the brokenness in our beloved country and continue our pledge to build a safe and secure Jewish community.
Shabbat Shalom,
