In early May, we presented at the 2024 American Association of Suicidology Conference in Las Vegas, with our partners at Didi Hirsch. Our presentation focused on understanding historical stigma within interpretations of Jewish texts. It also covered how we have worked as a united community to move from stigma to strength. Further, the presentation addressed the current climate of antisemitism, the war in Israel, and how both have affected mental health in the Jewish community. We discussed our Resiliency Roundtables — a community-based model of support where professionals from Jewish organizations learn from mental health clinicians and experts on how best to care for Jews who are struggling — and our budding collaboration with Didi Hirsch, which provides suicide prevention training for staff at Jewish organizations.
