PROTECTING OUR CHILDREN FROM ANTISEMITISM IN SCHOOLS
Our Federation is making sure Los Angeles students learn the facts about Israel. Amid ongoing efforts by some United Teachers Los Angeles (UTLA) members to raise and push through anti-Israel motions, we are moving forward with our multi- pronged strategy. In addition to our Los Angeles Parents Against Antisemitism (LAPAA) coalition, our Federation is now partnering with the new UTLA Caucus for Israel to offer a “Teaching Israel in the Classroom” workshop for all teachers, led by our Israel Education & Advocacy team.
BRINGING OUR YOUNG JEWISH COMMUNITY TOGETHER AGAIN
Our Federation knows the power of bringing our young adult Jewish community together — in person. Our NuRoots initiative for young adult engagement recently partnered with Trybal Gatherings to bring back summer camp for over 100 young adults in our community. A menu of activities was available for participants to choose from — yoga, rope course, and campfire storytelling all designed to reconnect and inspire our young community members. For many, Jewish summer camp is the beginning of a long and meaningful Jewish journey — and that’s why we are dedicated to creating opportunities to experience the benefits of camp beyond the teen years.

LEADING OUR JEWISH COMMUNITY INTO THE FUTURE
Our Federation recognizes the importance of strong and steady leadership of our Jewish community. This month we came together — in person — as a community to honor our President & CEO Jay Sanderson and his twelve incredible years of leadership at The Jewish Federation. Because of the generosity of sponsors and partners, the evening was a meaningful tribute to Jay and raised $1.7M in support of the Federation’s innovative young adult and leadership development programming. The vital support for this programming will ensure a brighter Jewish future by supporting and training our next generations of Jewish leaders.
