SAVING OUR MOST VULNERABLE JEWS
Our Federation is addressing the growing crisis of Jewish poverty. Social services are a lifeline for Jews in need, and the number of Jews reaching out to us for urgent help is rising. While financial aid helps in the short term, our new Financial Empowerment Program is changing lives by creating long-term financial stability and enabling self-sufficiency. We train social workers to deliver the crucial financial counseling, guidance, and education to struggling Jewish individuals and families to get them back on their feet — and stay there.

CREATING FUTURE JEWISH LEADERS
Our Federation is building a thriving Jewish future by creating new generations of Jewish leaders. Antisemitism on college campuses continues to grow at an alarming rate. It is our responsibility to make sure we empower our students to feel confident in representing Jewish values and advocating for Jewish issues they are passionate about on and off campus. Each year, we select four high school seniors to become Brawerman Fellows, which includes an annual college scholarship. During their college years, we will help these Fellows build powerful leadership skills and deepen their connection to Jewish life. This is just one of the many essential ways we are making sure our Jewish community will be in good hands for future generations.

LEADING FAMILIES TO JEWISH LIVES
Our Federation ensures that new Jewish families are able to live fulfilling and meaningful Jewish lives. We know that the arrival of a child can be an exciting yet difficult time. Many new Jewish parents are in desperate need of community and a group of friends that understands the novel experience. To address these issues, we launched LA jBabies, an innovative new program to help expectant parents and families of newborns (0-9 months) make connections, build friendships, and engage together in Los Angeles Jewish life. The program puts together groups of families with babies born in the same 4-month period, and we welcome everyone — including unaffiliated, single- and multi-parent, multi-faith, multi-ethnic, multi-abled, and LGBTQ families. LA jBabies is a crucial stepping-stone for future Jewish engagement as the seeds of new friendships are planted and micro-communities are formed to sustain these new families. This initiative builds on our important work focusing on Jewish families with young children, including the Family Camp Project and experiential PJ Library programming.
