JEWISH CHILDREN BRING LIGHT TO THE LA ZOO
The lights of Hanukkah always dazzle and inspire the youngest members of our community. Through our annual program PJ Library Goes to LA Zoo Lights, kids experienced the wonders of Hanukkah under the lights of the LA Zoo. Taking place on the 7th night of Hanukkah and featuring Jewish song leader Kira Rappaport, the program allowed Jewish families to explore the theme of light with a glow-stick icebreaker and several art stations. They also enjoyed churros and hot cocoa. Families lit the 7th candle on the menorah as a community, then toured the zoo’s light experience. The event sparked imaginations and filled Jewish hearts with joy.

BRINGING LIGHT TO JEWISH YOUNG ADULTS
Infinite Light is a weeklong celebration of all things Hanukkah with creatively-curated events across the city organized by our young adult initiative NuRoots. The collaborative eight-day festival kicked off at the Petersen Automotive Museum as 300 young adults gathered on the rooftop to embrace Infinite Light’s theme of welcoming guests. Capturing the unique energy of Hanukkah and reflecting the city’s wildly diverse community of Jewish young adults, Infinite Light provided space to connect and reconnect, inspire and get inspired, and collectively experience and reimagine an ancient tradition of light and renewal. In addition, more than 600 young adults participated in our Shabbanukkah Extravaganza in community member homes all over the city. Hundreds more came out at more than two dozen in-person events. NuRoots never stops spreading light to young adults.

LIGHT FOR OUR ALLIES AND NEIGHBORS
Our Federation believes the most effective way to address hate is to engage all of society. This Hanukkah we brought holiday light to our community, allies, partners, and neighbors by gathering together as part of Shine A Light, a national initiative that brings attention to modern-day antisemitism through education, community partnerships, community engagement, and advocacy. We convened four thoughtfully organized dinners across Los Angeles for education leaders, elected officials and Jewish leaders, civic leaders, and interfaith leaders. Through Shine A Light, our Federation strengthened relationships with allies, increased awareness of antisemitism, and created a sense of unity and joy. Our Community Engagement team brings together civic partners, allies, and interfaith leaders to create a flourishing and secure Jewish life.
