LaunchBox, the winner of Jewish Federation Los Angeles search for the Next Big Jewish Idea is now a reality! LaunchBox provides tools to discover the relevance of Judaism in our lives by exploring, experiencing, and debating important, provocative questions.
Targeted to families with teens, as well as young adults, the first box is called Life: What’s the Big Idea? and can be ordered, free-of-charge. Check out our website to see what’s in the box, interact with the online content, and order your free LaunchBox.
LaunchBox was created by Los Angeles resident Batsheva Frankel, who was one of more than 300 submissions to the search. Her idea was chosen by a panel of judges, as well as a community vote that engaged over 100,000 people from Los Angeles, nationally and internationally. “LaunchBox provides the tools to discover the relevance of Judaism in our lives and to foster Jewish connections by exploring, experiencing, and debating important, provocative questions,” said Frankel. “It’s a toolkit for your Jewish journey.”
As part of its commitment to ensuring the Jewish future, and in celebration of its Centennial anniversary, our Federation allocated $100,000 in funding, plus office space, mentoring and support services to help incubate Batsheva’s idea.
“Our Federation’s search for the Next Big Jewish Idea was about positioning us as not only a center of innovation in the Los Angeles Jewish community, but as a leader nationally in transforming Jewish life,” said Jay Sanderson, President & CEO of Jewish Federation Los Angeles. “We are proud of our role in helping turn the LaunchBox concept into a reality. More importantly, we began a communal conversation that will shape the Jewish future.”
Through games, music, comics and interactive activities, LaunchBox provides an out-of-the-box approach to exploring meaningful Jewish concepts. The first LaunchBox is available in very limited quantities. Sign-up to receive one. (Please note that LaunchBox will only be shipped to those who currently live in the Los Angeles area, quantities are limited, and fulfillment is subject to availability.)
