Making an Impact at JPAC

Jewish Federation Los Angeles is proud of its partnership with the Jewish Public Affairs Committee of California (JPAC). This year, we brought a delegation of 50 outstanding leaders, our largest to date, to JPAC’s premier annual event, Capitol Summit. It was an empowering opportunity for Jewish community members and allies to learn, network, and advocate for our community’s priorities. Working with our community leaders, the Federation further flexed our civic muscle, advocated for policies to create a just California for all, and engaged our elected officials. The two-day gathering was a great opportunity to hear from some of California’s most powerful lawmakers and activists, practice and participate in direct lobbying, and join hundreds of allies in Sacramento to amplify the voice of California’s Jewish community.

“When 300 diverse Jewish leaders and allies take time in the middle of the week to travel to Sacramento and advocate on a unified policy agenda, our elected leaders see that, and they are moved by it,” Jewish Public Affairs Committee Executive Director David Bocarsly said. “What we did at JPAC Capitol Summit reverberates around the State Capitol and will have a huge impact on the success of our community’s top priorities.”

With our advocacy around community security, Holocaust and genocide education, refugee support, domestic violence prevention, and other critical issues, we’re proud of the work we did at the Summit to create a better California for everybody.

For the first time, representatives from six of our Federation’s civic partner organizations took part in the Summit. Organizations included Brotherhood Crusade, Fulfillment Fund, Heart of Los Angeles (HOLA), Homeless Outreach Program Integrated Care System (HOPICS), Faith and Community Empowerment (FACE), and SoLA ICAN Foundation.

We would also like to congratulate Allison Gingold, former JPAC president and current Federation board member and Community Engagement chair, for being awarded JPAC’s prestigious Earl Raab Award, for her incredible community activism. We are so fortunate to have such a stellar Los Angeles leader like Allison involved in our work!
