Jewish Federation Los Angeles is deeply committed to a strong and safe State of Israel. As our brothers and sisters again face an overwhelming onslaught of rocket fire from the South and rioting within Israel’s borders, we are working with our partners including the Israel Trauma Coalition (ITC) to provide timely and much-needed support, especially to the most vulnerable including frail elderly, families, and young children.
We are deeply proud of the life-changing work we have done with ITC for almost a decade. ITC and its teams of professionals train clinicians, first line responders, and local officials on diagnosing and managing trauma, promoting healing and rehabilitation, and creating resilient individuals, families, and communities. ITC is recognized as a leader in this work worldwide.
Starting immediately in partnership with the Israel Trauma Coalition, we will conduct parent workshops throughout Israel in the communities being directly impacted by the rocket fire and riots. In many of these cities, these events have created overwhelming trauma especially for children. We will also work with ITC to support dramatically increased direct care for parents and caregivers.
We are also deeply concerned with the increased antisemitism during this crisis and will remain vigilant through our Community Security Initiative locally and through the Jewish Federations of North America and with our national and global partners.
We stand in solidarity with Israel in protecting all its citizens from terrorist attacks and we pray for a restoration of calm and civility within Israel’s borders and for comfort to the victims and their families.
Sincerely,
Albert Z. Praw
