Sukkath Shalom/ Shabbat Shalom Features Cindy Paley at Hollywood Temple Beth El

Popular Jewish vocalist Cindy Paley highlights   Sukkat Shalom/Shabbat Shalom at Hollywood Temple Beth El on Friday evening, October 10, at 7:30 PM in a celebration of song and dance, spirit and soul combining the traditional welcoming of the Shabbat with the festival of Sukkoth.

Cindy Paley leads creative womens services as cantorial soloist of Lev Eisha congregation and of the Nshama Minyan at Valley Beth Shalom. She is noted a Jewish music educator and performer of Yiddish folk songs, Ladino love songs and Israeli pop  music and has delighted audiences of all ages around the country.     

There will be a rocking Shabbat and Sukkoth service, follow by Oneg Shabbat refreshments and group singing and hora dancing following.

The Sukkoth festival commemorates the march of the ancient people of Israel across the Sinai from Egyptian slavery to freedom in the Land of Israel. It is marked by gathering in booth. Sukkoth, covered by branches, reflecting the ideal of the peaceful protection of God.  It also marks appreciation of the fall harvest and the coming winter rains.

Other events to mark this season will be:

First day Festival Service, Thursday. October 9. 9:30 AM, marked by the waving of the Lulav and Etrog, palm branch and citron.

Shmini Atzeret, 8th Day of Assembly services, marking the closing of the festival season that began with Rosh Hashanah, and Memorial Yizkor services, Thursday, Oct.16, 9:30 AM

Simchat Torah, Rejoicing in the Torah, marking the conclusion of the annual cycle of reading the Five Books of Moses, with singing and dancing, Thursday, Oct. 16, 6:30 PM.
