I always say that our Federation never takes summer vacation, but we ensure that our young people enjoy fun, Jewish summers. Today, there are hundreds of young people at one of our outstanding Jewish summer camps and hundreds visiting Israel for the first time as a part of our partnerships with Birthright Israel, Honeymoon Israel, Masa Israel and Onward Israel.
A major focus of our engagement work locally centers on young adults in their 20s and 30s connecting them to Jewish life in ways that are as unique as they are.
In August, through our groundbreaking NuRoots initiative, we will celebrate Tu B’av, the Jewish holiday of love. In Israel, Tu B’Av is a popular time for weddings, dancing, and connecting heart to heart. From August 3rd-6th, NuRoots will partake in this centuries-old love fest through Love Angeles.
For four days and nights during the full moon, young Jewish adults can participate in this ancient tradition of celebrating love in a variety of new ways. Events include an aerial partner yoga session, a block party on the Eastside, and a Shabbat in the Sand beach jam session. Check out full event descriptions and RSVP info. here.
Across Los Angeles, in neighborhoods like Venice and West Hollywood, in the San Fernando Valley and Downtown L.A., NuRoots connects young adults to Jewish values, culture, heritage and each other. As a result, those who are not part of organized Jewish life are now finding new and unique ways to cultivate creativity and explore spirituality.
NuRoots was created to engage young adults in ways that are authentic to them and build community. I wanted you to know that this August, through Love Angeles, they can do both.
