Statement on Kidnapped Israeli Teenagers

Jewish Federation Los Angeles condemns the kidnapping of Gilad Sha’er, Naftali Frenkel and Eyal Yifrah.  We join with the international Jewish community in demanding their immediate release and offer prayers for their health and safety.

We stand in solidarity with Israel in its efforts to rescue these young men, who are our boys too. The Palestinian Authority and President Abbas are accountable for the fate of these kidnapped teens and for terrorist activity emanating from the areas under its control.

The families of the boys have asked for our prayers. We, in partnership with our Board of Rabbis, offer this supplication, and extend our love and support to the families of these young men:

May it be your will, Lord our G-d and G-d of our ancestors, That you may lead to life and peace the abducted young men Eyal ben Irit Teshurah, Gil-ad Michael ben Bat Galim, and Yaakov Naftali ben Rachel Devorah, and guide them to return safely to their families and loved ones who fear for their safety; may you save them from the hands of an enemy and he who lurks them and all calamities, and may you send a blessing to all that they do; may you hear the voice of our prayer and the prayers of all those wishing upon peace and justice, life and goodness.  You listen to entreaty and prayer. Blessed are you G-d, who hears our prayers. Amen.” — Rabbi Yehoyada Amir

The Jewish Federations of North America has created a page where community members can post a message of solidarity with Israel, as well as Gilad, Naftali, Eyal; as well as sign an online letter addressed to their families. Click here to take part.
