June 2017 marks the 50th anniversary of the Six-Day War (June 5-10, 1967) between Israel and the surrounding Arab countries. We are sharing a 12-part video series with you, entitled “Countdown to the Six Day War Project.”

June 5th, 1967 — 50 years ago today, the Six Day War begins. With 200,000 Arab troops massing near its borders, Israel realized war was coming. Fearing imminent destruction, Israel preemptively attacks Egyptian air bases. Jordan, Syria & Iraq attack Jerusalem and Tel Aviv. Video 5 of the mini-series recounts the first day of the Six Day War.

The war was a pivotal event in the history of the Middle East, the Jewish people, and Israel-Diaspora relations. The 6 Day War Project video series brings the dramatic and suspenseful events of 1967 transformed the State of Israel, through a series of 12 videos.

We will be sharing all 12, 2-3 minute short videos, co-sponsored by Jewish Federations of North America, which track the events of May and June 1967 as they unfolded 50 years ago. They cover the ramp up to war and go on to chronicle the events that took place on each of the six days.

The series concludes with several segments that cover the events that followed, examining the immediate and long term aftermaths of this iconic chapter in the history of the Jewish state.
