Jewish American Heritage Month: Who’s making an impact in our community?

May is Jewish American Heritage Month in the U.S. and in celebration we want you to tell us who you think is making a positive impact here in the L.A. Jewish community. As part of the commemoration, Union Bank and KCET have joined in the celebration by honoring several of our community members.

The Local Heroes program of KCET and Union Bank recognizes and pays tribute to exemplary leaders who are making a difference and enriching the lives of others by improving their workplace, profession, neighborhood, community, region and the world. Their 2012 Jewish American Heritage Month honorees are: Roz & Abner Goldstine (pictured right) and Annette Shapiro – generous, long-time Federation supporters and community leaders.

“It is a great pleasure to give this well-deserved recognition to three individuals whose contributions to the local community have positively impacted so many people,” said Union Bank Senior Executive Vice President Pierre P. Habis, head of Community Banking.

“KCET is thrilled to join Union Bank as we recognize three incredible local heroes,” said KCET President and CEO Al Jerome. “With tireless dedication, hard work and leadership, each of the honorees has improved our Los Angeles community. We are pleased to introduce them to our viewers through the video profiles airing on KCET throughout Jewish American Heritage Month as we also pay tribute to the many milestones and achievements of the Jewish community.”

Throughout May, KCET is airing video profiles of the honorees, and they can also be viewed on the Local Heroes section of their website.
