I am currently in Israel with our Men’s Entertainment Mission and staying on top of the latest developments as they are happening. Like you, I am deeply concerned for the safety and well-being of our Israeli family.
While here, I am representing you in showing our community’s support of and solidarity with Israel, especially our family in the South and the young people in the IDF. And I know you join me in expressing our deepest condolences to the families of today’s victims in Israel.
All of us are outraged and upset that Hamas and other terrorists have chosen to escalate their ongoing attacks against innocent Israeli’s in the past few days. In fact, more than 820 rockets fired from Gaza have struck Israel since the beginning of the year, and more than 250 since Saturday. Just imagine if we in Los Angeles were living under the constant threat of rockets landing on our homes and schools.
In response to the rocket attacks, the IDF has launched an operation called Pillar of Defense with the goals of protecting Israeli civilians and disabling the terrorist infrastructure in Gaza.
Please know that our Federation is ready to quickly address the needs of the people of Israel at this very difficult time. With the unwavering support of our community, we will always be there for our Israeli family!
