The Nightmare and the Dream concert

The San Fernando Valley Master Chorale presents the world premiere of an original work by SFV Master Chorale composer-in-residence, Sergio Barer. The Nightmare and the Dream describes the medieval clash of Christianity and Judaism, with the resulting persecution of the Jewish people. It explores the work of Theodore Herzl, the visionary who pursued the rebirth of a Jewish State in the Middle East, imagining it, describing it, and lobbying for it with the German Kaiser, the Turkish Sultan, and other leaders. Finally, it details the story of the pioneers that settled in Israel from European and Arab countries to form a Jewish State, declaring Israel’s independence in 1948. Performed by the gorgeous voices of the SFV Master Chorale.
