Description:

An easy hike of about 2.5 miles round trip via Solstice Canyon Trail for those who want to do an easy hike.     After our break, you will have the choice of going back to the trailhead or continuing on an additional 3.9 mile intermediate hike on the Sostomo Trail / Deer Valley Loop with some of the best ocean views in the Santa Monica mountains that are not to be missed then return to the trailhead.

 

CARPOOLING IS HIHGLY RECOMMENDED AS THERE IS LIMITED PARKING IN THE PARKING LOT!

WHAT TO BRING:

Two liters of water, lunch, snacks, hat, sunglasses, sunscreen, hiking boots or shoes with good traction, hiking poles, daypack, long pants and long sleeved shirt or shorts and a T-shirt, depending on weather. Rain gear,  jacket and gloves in cool weather.  Clothes should be loose fitting, and light-colors are preferable.

 

FOOTWEAR:  Hiking boots or shoes with good traction. Absolutely no sandals or open toed shoes.

 

MEETING PLACE:

As you enter the main parking lot we are meeting on the left hand side by the structure.

WEST SIDE:  Pico Blvd Carpool: 8:30 A.M.  Leaving 8:35 A.M.      

Meet at the municipal parking lot on the south side of  Pico Blvd west of Robertson blvd between Robertson blvd and Livona ave next to B Nai David Congregation 8906 Pico Blvd L.A. 90035. Form your own carpool and please share the cost of transportation and parking, if any with the driver.  http://g.co/maps/hgyxr

 

Directions From the Westside

Freeway 10 W to Pacific Coast Highway. (1) N to Corral Canyon Road (mile marker 50.36, about 1.75 miles past Malibu Canyon Road).  Turn right and then left into the gate to Solstice Canyon Park.  Go to the end of the road which turns into the parking lot where we will meet.  If parking is full, you can park on Corral Canyon Road near PCH or uphill 200 yards on the right or left depending upon where you are coming from and walk back into the park (main parking lot).

CONDITIONS TO PARTICIPATE!!!! 

Please allow plenty of time flexibility when participating in our hikes / activities!
 

If you are unsure of your fitness level please join us on one of our easier hikes before doing any advanced hikes. We would recommend that you can walk at least 6 miles before coming on any of our hikes.

It is not appropriate to RSVP for an event and not show up. Members can be terminated for repeated offenses.

 

Please read the description of the event carefully before attending.

 

I am a volunteer (i.e. not liable for the group). Safety is a priority for everyone in the group. Think of this as hiking with a group of friends.

 

DISCLAIMER:   Outdoor sports and other events we plan are inherently dangerous and requires significant physical exertion.  Participants must be good health free from heart and respitory problems and be in good physical shape.  Accidents may happen and you understand that on these outings, there may not be search and rescue, medical facilities or expertise necessary to deal with medical or other emergencies to which you and your dependent may be exposed.. The Jewish Outdoor Adventures and its organizers are not trained leaders and we do not confirm the qualifications of any of its members to lead or participate in trips. The Outings may include carpooling, transportation, or transit to and from the Outings, and you are  personally responsible for all risks associated with this travel.  However, even though carpooling is recommended, it is not mandatory.

 

RESPONSIBILITY: I am not responsible for you. You are responsible for you and your minors. You should be self-sufficient and be able to find your way to safety in the event you find yourself on your own. I will not lead you back to the trailhead if you decide to turn back.

ASSUMPTION OF RISKS: You, for Yourself and for the minor participant, if any, ACKNOWLEDGE AND ASSUME the risks of the activity in which your or your child will be participating, whether or not those risks are described above and whether they are inherent or otherwise.

 

RELEASE OF LIABILITY: All participants take full responsibility for their own actions. If you choose to participate in any The JOA events, you are releasing the Jewish Outdoor Adventures  and it’s organizers from all liability in case of possible injuries, death including loss of or damage to property.
