Description:

This exploratory hike of approximately 8 miles with 1,000 ft elevation gain will
visit rustic Canon, a lush stream-fed canyon on the east side of Wil Rogers State historic Park with spectacular ocean views.  During this hike, we will navigate through a forest of sycamore, walnut, cottonwood and thick pockets of poison oak. Along the way we will pass a few abandoned structures and a small dam with waterfall.

DIRECTIONS:
From Sunset Blvd and 26th St, go west and make a right (North) on Capri and drive all the way to the top. There is street parking. Read the signs for any restrictions. Take a left on Casale at the top of Capri to find the trail head (fire road)  The trailhead is located at the intersection of Casale & Capri. 

WHAT TO BRING:
Two liters of water, lunch, snacks, hat, sunglasses, sunscreen, hiking boots or shoes with good traction, hiking poles, daypack, long pants and long sleeved shirt due to the presence of poison oak, Rain gear, jacket and gloves in cool weather.  Clothes should be loose fitting, and light-colors are preferable.
 
FOOTWEAR:  Hiking boots or shoes with good traction. Absolutely no sandals or open toed shoes.

Directions from the Westside:
Take the 405N to Sunset blvd. Turn left and proceed 3.1 miles on Sunset blvd to Capri Dr. where you will turn right and continue 0.6 miles until you reach the intersection of Casale Rd where we will meet.

Meet in Sherman Oaks at the corner of Riverside Dr and Hazeltine Ave (between Woodman and Van Nuys Blvd). Meet on Riverside Drive on the south side at the entrance to the Sunkist parking lot, across from Trader Joes and Stansbury avenue at the driveway entrance to the Sunkist building located at: 14130 Riverside Dr, Sherman Oaks, CA 91423. Take 101N to 405 S to Sunset Blvd exit. At the exit, turn left on Church and then right into Sunset blvd. Proceed on Sunset blvd for 3.1 miles and make a right onto Capri Dr. and continue 0.6 miles to the intersection of Casale Rd where we will meet.

CONDITIONS TO PARTICIPATE!!!! 
Please allow plenty of time flexibility when participating in our hikes / activities!

If you are unsure of your fitness level please join us on one of our easier hikes before doing any advanced hikes. We would recommend that you can walk at least 6 miles before coming on any of our hikes.
It is not appropriate to RSVP for an event and not show up. Members can be terminated for repeated offenses.
 
Please read the description of the event carefully before attending.
 
I am a volunteer (i.e. not liable for the group). Safety is a priority for everyone in the group. Think of this as hiking with a group of friends.

If you seek the exact figures, you need to do your own research.  
 
RESPONSIBILITY: I am not responsible for you. You are responsible for you and your minors. You should be self-sufficient and be able to find your way to safety in the event you find yourself on your own. I will not lead you back to the trailhead if you decide to turn back.
