Is Anti-Semitism in the Suburbs Fact or Fiction? Ask Novelist Harriet Pike

Join Lev Eisha Hadassah for a discussion and book signing with Harriet Pike, author of Enemy in the Garden. The novel reveals the anti-Semitic strain that lies just below the surface of American life. The fast-paced thriller moves rapidly from a tranquil suburban world to one of anti-government conspiracies, insurrection and domestic terrorism. Though the book is set in the 1970s, the recent Jewish Community Center shooting in Kansas City makes the story frighteningly relevant today.

A career writer, Pike started as a staff reporter for Newsday right out of college and subsequently worked for other publications as a reporter and managing editor of a business weekly. Her portfolio also includes travel and humor articles for the New York Times and Daily News. Following her newspaper career, Pike served as communications director for New York State and City politicians and, subsequently, for an influential anti-poverty non-profit. In the three posts, her responsibilities included writing op-ed pieces on timely subjects for major media in New York City and directing a public affairs TV show. Enemy in the Garden is her first published novel.

Admission is $18 per person (payable at the door), which includes dessert and a donation to Hadassah. MEMBERSHIP SPECIAL: If you join Hadassah that night, you get in for free! Annual membership is $36, Life membership is $212.
