With the generosity of our community, our Federation’s funding of and partnership with Birthright Israel will strengthen Jewish identity and foster a love for Israel for over 2,000 L.A. 18-26 year-olds this year. We also offer a number of ways for them to stay connected with Israel after they return home.
Registration for Birthright Israel winter trips begins today, September 10, 2012 for those who have applied in previous seasons; and open registration begins on Wednesday, September 12, 2012 at 7:00 AM PST for new applicants. Recently, community member and philanthropist Albert Sweet graciously hosted a cocktail party at his beautiful Malibu home in support of The Jewish Federation and Birthright Israel. Over fifty guests listened intently as two recent Birthright Israel alumni shared their personal experiences from this life-changing 10-day trip. Albert is a longtime supporter of both our Federation and the Birthright Israel Foundation. During the event, Federation Chairman of the Board Richard V. Sandler and Maxyne Finkelstein, COO of Birthright Israel, gave those in attendance an insider’s update on the transformative program and asked for their financial support to continue sending our young adults to Israel.
To learn about funding opportunities that will allow even more of our young adults to participate in Birthright Israel, contact Jenny Davidson at (323) 761-8088 or JDavidson@JewishLA.org.
