Like many of us, I read with interest the Los Angeles Times op-ed article “It’s Too Expensive to be Jewish.” My response is that being Jewish is priceless. That’s why our Federation is deeply committed to making Jewish life accessible and affordable for everyone. We understand the challenges facing many in our community. Our job is to reach out and engage as many as we can and open their eyes to all that our diverse community has to offer.
Our top priority is to create more opportunities to live Jewishly and celebrate Jewish life. We are working tirelessly to break down any barrier to being part of our Jewish community. I am proud to say that we are making a tremendous impact.
We bring free Jewish content to thousands of young families each month through our partnership with PJ Library® program in Los Angeles. We provide financial assistance to hundreds of families to enable their children to receive a quality Jewish education, enjoy a meaningful summer at a Jewish camp and visit Israel for the first time.
This is our great challenge, and we are facing it together. Thank you for playing an important role in this work.
