A couple of weeks ago, I was in Israel with nine of our Federation’s outstanding young professionals, working side by side with young Israelis at one of Tel Aviv’s soup kitchens, a part of a Federation partnership called “OneDay Social Volunteering.” OneDay has developed a powerful platform that harnesses the time and commitment of young people across Israel to help vulnerable populations. As anyone who has ever rolled up their sleeves to help those less fortunate knows, this form of social action and volunteerism is extremely gratifying. I had little time to chat with these young people as we fed lunch to over three hundred grateful Israelis, but I was moved by the way they all served those in need with graciousness and care.
Throughout the year, our Federation’s Community Service Days give you the opportunity to give back and care for those who need us most throughout our city. This Sunday, I invite you to join me and hundreds of others in making a difference.
