1736 Family Crisis Center
1736 Family Crisis Center’s mission is to comprehensively to help children, women, men, and families through crisis circumstances, including domestic violence, sexual assault, homelessness, abuse, poverty, human trafficking, and post-traumatic stress, and to improve their prospects for long-term housing, safety, survival, financial stability and success. The agency operates a wide range of programs and services, directly serving more than 9000 individuals annually and reaching approximately 24000 individuals through direct services and community and educational outreach.
A Safe Place, Inc. – Kings Care
The Mission of Kings’ Care-A Safe Place, Inc. is to reduce the impact of homelessness, substance misuse, mental illness, criminal behavior, and its associated problems in the community. We offer sober transitional and sober living houses designed to lessen the social cost of these disorders by promoting wellness and drug free lifestyles. Our philosophy is focused on the 3 “R’s, Re-entry, Recovery and Reunification. Kings’ Care-A Safe Place, Inc. has been providing housing for women, women with children, pregnant women, men, and men with children for over 40 years. We center our housing on mental illness, homelessness concerning offenders and their needs. This consists of, but not limited to those, suffering from substance misuse, HIV/AIDS and addictive behaviors. We provide the community a SAFE and healthy environment, culturally competent, in which we can assist a person to change their life forever. We have a clear and concise understanding of this special population, due to our years of education, service and experience.
Aviva believes every child and every family in our Los Angeles community deserves the chance for a brighter future. We provide compassionate support, therapeutic services, and guidance to at-risk children and families.
Our mission is to remove and/or help individuals overcome the barriers that deter their pursuit of success in life and facilitate opportunities for a better quality of life by effectuating improved health & wellness, facilitating academic success, promoting personal, social & economic growth, providing access to artistic excellence & cultural awareness, increasing financial literacy and building community agencies & institutions.
Bryant Temple AME Church has been a pillar of the Leimert Park/South LA area for more than 50 years. Our staff and volunteers are local ambassadors, supporting not only our members, but engaging with and establishing a rapport with a diverse community.
For the past 23 years Bryant Temple has provided outreach services which include:
- Winter shelter programs for those experiencing homelessness
- Bridge to Home homeless program for formerly incarcerated women
- Community Peace and Healing Center
- Youth Trauma Prevention Outreach
- Bi-weekly food pantry
- Case management and behavioral health services through a partnership with Tom Bradley Global Awareness Magnet Elementary School
- Connecting Faith Leaders Networking Group, designed to leverage the strengths of the faith community to address homelessness and poverty in Council District 10
These programs have allowed us to build relationships with diverse households and to establish ourselves as a trusted member of the community that individuals and families know is available to support them as needs arise.
Cedars-Sinai Child Life Services
Cedars-Sinai Guerin Children’s provides a seamless continuum of primary and specialty care for hospitalized patients and outpatients as they grow from newborns to adolescents to adults. It combines advanced clinical care, leading-edge pediatric research and forward-looking physician education and training to support Cedars-Sinai and its growing network of healthcare partners across the region.
Chai Lifeline Children Healthcare Services
When serious illness strikes a child, the entire family is affected. Chai Lifeline’s extensive network of free programs and services is designed to help every member of the family cope during this time of crisis.
We uplift first-generation and lower-income students from poverty by empowering them to get into and graduate from college to embark on meaningful career paths that provide greater economic mobility.
Heart of Los Angeles helps young people overcome barriers through exceptional, free, integrated programs and personalized guidance in a trusted, nurturing environment.
HOPICS is dedicated to providing the highest quality innovative social service to South Los Angeles with an emphasis on behavioral health and housing stability. HOPICS’ operates Interim Housing sites for families, single fathers, as well as single mothers. Your donation of toys and books will go to the many children residing at these sites.
Jewish Family Service of Los Angeles
We provide life-improving services that help the people of Los Angeles live with dignity and exercise self-determination. We believe in and strive for a more compassionate Los Angeles where no one has to navigate life alone.
Guided by Jewish values, the Karsh Family Social Service Center improves the lives of the underserved by providing critical and accessible social services through direct service or collaboration with other providers, while also integrating significant volunteer opportunities to create a uniquely powerful way to help repair the world.
PATH’s mission is to end homelessness for individuals, families, and communities by building affordable housing and providing supportive services throughout California.
Sharsheret, a national Jewish non-profit organization, improves the lives of women and families living with or at increased genetic risk for breast or ovarian cancer through personalized support and saves lives through educational outreach. Sharsheret’s Busy Box program guides parents in supporting their children through a mother’s cancer diagnosis, and features a starter kit of games and activities to occupy children while mom is at the doctor or resting after surgery or treatment.
Valley Friendship Circle
The Valley Friendship Circle is a 501- C-3 non-profit, non-sectarian organization that addresses the challenges facing the families of children with special needs in a novel and innovative way.
Valley Friendship Circle’s unique approach brings together teenage volunteers and children with special needs for hours of fun and friendship. From weekly visits to social & holiday programs and events, these shared experiences empower children with special needs, while enriching the lives of everyone involved. Parents and siblings also receive much-needed respite and support from the Valley Friendship Circle community.
Working Dreams, A non-profit dedicated to enriching the lives of Foster Care Children in Los Angeles County.
