Los Angeles, CA, and Tel Aviv, Israel, January 27, 2017 – The Jewish Federation of Greater Los Angeles and Unistream announce a multi-year strategic partnership in Israel. This partnership will help scale Unistream’s activities and operations in Israel over the next couple of years, dramatically increasing the number of Israeli youth who will participate in Unistream’s cutting edge program, as well as the number of Unistream centers throughout the country. The Federation and Unistream will work to close Israel’s widening socioeconomic gaps by empowering students from the social and geographic periphery and giving them the tools to be the next creators, inventors, leaders and entrepreneurs of the country – the underpinnings of a strong and vibrant State of Israel.
This strategic collaborative partnership is based on the Federation’s values of identifying and addressing challenges and opportunities in communities in Los Angeles, Israel and around the world. The Federation addresses the most central tenets of what it means to care for and strengthen the Jewish community for today and for the future. The Federation’s 35,000-foot view allows for the organization to plan for the future, while hands-on partnerships allow them to plan for today.
Jay Sanderson, President & CEO of The Jewish Federation of Greater Los Angeles, said, “We are partnering with Unistream to bridge the socioeconomic gap between those who are living the startup dream in Israel, and those who haven’t even had the opportunity to dream at all.” Sanderson continued, “This partnership will positively impact the students, their families and communities in Israel, forever changing the trajectory of their lives. We are looking forward to embarking on this partnership together, and strengthening our community here and abroad for generations to come.”
Unistream has been working with teens and young adults from Israel’s socio-geographic periphery for more than a decade, and continues to demonstrate how its hands-on, entrepreneurial education catapults students forward and provides them with the tools to address the world’s greatest challenges, as well as the knowledge, responsibility and confidence to make a difference. With this partnership with The Jewish Federation of Greater Los Angeles, Unistream is poised to deepen its impact in an exponential way by expanding capacity; increasing the number of entrepreneurship centers throughout Israel; broadening educational curriculum; and supporting the growth of its alumni program.
Rony Zarom, Founder and Chair of Unistream, said, “Every day we witness the impact and importance of Unistream’s work among young Israelis who learn to embrace an entrepreneurial mindset and become the pioneers of tomorrow. We are thankful to The Jewish Federation of Greater Los Angeles for embracing this proven approach and for recognizing what we can accomplish together.” He continued, “We are also grateful for the ongoing involvement of Israel’s business community and the Jewish community of Los Angeles, who demonstrate day-in and day-out that together, we can shape the future of a vibrant Israel.”
The Federation-Unistream partnership will make a significant impact, opening up the students and teens to a world of possibilities. This impact will be felt locally, nationally and globally.
