David Labkovski Project Student Docent Training Program -grades 8-12 – virtual

Free

he David Labkovski Project (DLP) has adapted to the new normal due to Covid-19 by launching their first online student docent training program, complimentary for students in 8th-12th grade. “Art is a universal language and allows for students from all backgrounds to connect and engage with history,” says Founder & Executive Director, Leora Raikin.

The DLP uses the narrative work of artist David Labkovski (1906-1991) as a tool to engage, enrich, and educate students about life before, during, and after the Holocaust.

“The DLP Docent Training Program offers insight into Labkovski’s narrative artwork and the historical context of each piece. Through the course, students become docents and “form deep and meaningful connections with the artist and the history,” according to Stephanie Wolfson, the DLP Director of Education.

The new David Labkovski Project Online Student Docent Training Program will include five, one-hour sessions between September 2020 and February 2021. The program will culminate in a student docent audio tour for the David Labkovski Project online exhibit, Documenting History Through Art.
