The Israel & Overseas Committee (I&O) coordinates the Jewish Federation of Greater Los Angeles’ activities and funding for Israel and Jewish communities worldwide.
 
I&O allocations blend support for Federation’s traditional partners, the Jewish Agency for Israel (JAFI) and the American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee (JDC), with LA-Directed programs. United Jewish Communities (UJC) coordinates collective responsibility of all North American Federations for JAFI and JDC.

The strategic goals of LA-Directed allocations and programs are to:

• Create shared Jewish identity and destiny
• Develop people-to-people direct involvement
• Promote lasting, larger-scale change
• Contribute to L.A. Federation fund development
• Transition from charity to partnership
• Meet human needs during crises
